A Place to Remember: East Coast Truckers Memorial Bench

At East Coast Truckers Children's Charity, the people who make our charity what it is mean everything to us. Over the years, we have been fortunate to have so many wonderful members, volunteers and children join us, creating memories that will stay with us forever. Sadly, some of those people are no longer with us, but their memories and the impact they made will never be forgotten.

With this in mind, all members of East Coast Truckers Children's Charity agreed that we would like to purchase a memorial bench to honour the memory of everyone who has previously been a member, volunteered with us, been a child on our convoy and supported our charity throughout the years, who are sadly no longer with us.

The idea was to create a special place where people could pause, reflect and remember those who have been a part of our charity over the years. After discussions about where this bench could be placed, we felt there was one location that would be particularly meaningful: Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park.

Pleasurewood Hills has been a very special part of our annual convoy for many years, welcoming us for what is always our biggest day out of the year. It felt fitting that our memorial bench should have a home somewhere that holds so many happy memories for our members, volunteers and the children we support.

We approached our friends at Pleasurewood Hills to ask whether they would be happy for us to place our memorial bench at the theme park, and we couldn't have asked for a more wonderful response. The team at Pleasurewood Hills were incredibly accommodating and willingly agreed to allow us to have our bench placed within the park.

As an extra special gesture, during our 2026 convoy day, the Pleasurewood Hills team moved the memorial bench to the front of the park, ensuring it was there for everyone to see as they arrived. This meant so much to us and gave members, families and visitors the opportunity to see this special tribute as they entered the park.

The bench is more than just a place to sit. It is a lasting reminder of the people who have been part of the East Coast Truckers family and a way of keeping their memories close to us, year after year.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our friends at Pleasurewood Hills for their kindness, support and generosity in helping us find a home for this special memorial. We are incredibly grateful for the way they welcomed this idea and helped make it a reality.

To everyone who has been part of East Coast Truckers Children's Charity, past and present, you will always be remembered, and you will always be part of our family.
